CentOS is a Linux distribution that provides a free, enterprise-class, community-supported computing platform functionally compatible with its upstream source, Red Hat Enterprise Linux. if you don’t have CentOS yet. Download Download latest CentOS.
We will learn how to install httpd or web proxy in the Centos.
To check either httpd installed or not, we will do as shown in fig 1.1:
yum -y list httpd
it says, ‘command not found’, this implies that httpd has not been installed in the centos. To install the httpd:
yum -y install httpd
it will install the httpd and shows the installed package.
To check the status of the httpd:
It return the message – “ httpd is stopped”.
To start the service,
To check the either web service and the webserver is currently running or not. We will use the Nmap.
# it shows the all the service running such as http, my SQL and so on.
Note: port 80 and 440 should run during the service of http to run both web service and centos server i.e. 10.6.6.3 (McCool, 2014)
